Help for Children and Teenagers
Typical ages 6–17 , however I also provide shorter, very playful sessions for younger children. With consent, I coordinate with your GP or paediatric team and teachers when helpful.
Conditions we Support
Anxiety & Worry: separation worries, generalised anxiety, morning “tummy pains” “wobblies”, Sress, anxiety and performance nerves.
School Refusal, Fear of School, School Avoidance: step-by-step return plans plus skills to lower anticipatory anxiety at wake-up and drop-off.
Bullying-related stress & confidence: emotion regulation, self-advocacy scripts, and rebuilding self-belief, self esteem and confidence
Functional abdominal pain, Digestive issues, IBS, and tummy pain: gut-calming imagery and brain–gut regulation skills.
Sleep difficulties: bedtime anxiety, difficulty switching off.
Needle fear (vaccines, blood tests) & medical fears, Fear of Dentists & Dental procedures: preparing the mind and body so appointments are easier.
Headaches & migraine: pacing, relaxation and self-hypnosis strategies.
Bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis): structured protocols alongside standard care.
Exam stress & focus: attention control, pre-exam routines, public speaking, presentations, exam preparation, state performance.
Transparency about evidence: Some areas (e.g., gut-directed approaches for IBS) have strong paediatric trials. Others are promising but smaller. I’ll always explain what’s known and tailor your child’s plan accordingly.
How sessions work
1) Parent & child assessment (45–75 mins)
History, goals, strengths, sleep, nutrition, school context and medical factors.
2) Personalised plan (usually 4–8 sessions)
Child-friendly hypnosis training, counselling/psychotherapy methods and simple home practice audio. Single targets (e.g., needle fear) may need 3–4 sessions.
3) Parent guidance
Clear, practical steps to reinforce progress between sessions.
4) Progress tracking
Short rating scales and goal check-ins so you can see what’s improving.
What your child learns
-
Calming imagery and focused attention
-
“In-the-moment” tools for mornings, classrooms, clinics and bedtime
-
Confidence scripts and self-advocacy language
-
Body-based settling skills that pair well with good routines
Safety & suitability
Hypnosis is a focused, relaxed state — children stay aware and in control. I obtain parental consent, screen for red flags, and adapt for sensory needs and neurodiversity. Hypnotherapy complements medical care and does not replace it.

Hypnotherapy FAQs
Will my child be “asleep” during Hypnotherapy?
No. It’s more like absorbed daydreaming. Children remain aware and can speak and move.
Does online hypnotherapy work for children?
Yes. Structured home-based approaches are effective for many goals and convenient for families.
Do parents attend?
Parents attend fully for the initial consultation. Then generally for the next only for younger children, a parent is present. Older children and teens usually have part-session privacy plus a brief parent check in.
